APRIL 18 – OCTOBER 13, 2024
The special exhibition “Kant 300: A Life in Königsberg” at the East Prussian State Museum in Lüneburg paid tribute to the important philosopher on the occasion of Immanuel Kant’s 300th birthday. The exhibition ran from April 18 to October 13, 2024 and offered a comprehensive insight into Kant’s life and work in his hometown of Königsberg.
The exhibition focused on unique original objects, some of which were presented to the public for the first time. These included personal items such as Kant’s walking stick, locks of hair, oil paintings and the “Kant glass” with individual engravings. These exhibits conveyed a vivid picture of Kant the man, apart from his philosophical works.
The exhibition also served as a preview of the museum’s planned permanent exhibition, which will take a closer look at Kant’s philosophy and its relevance today. With this special exhibition, the East Prussian State Museum offered a comprehensive and multifaceted view of Immanuel Kant that was accessible to both connoisseurs and the general public.
