In the course of lignite mining in the Lusatian mining district, extensive archaeological excavations were undertaken, which contributed significantly to the understanding of the cultural and historical development of the region. Among other things, an early medieval Slavic fortification was discovered, which was reconstructed at its original location. It houses one of the most modern archaeological exhibitions in Germany.

Original finds are impressively presented in showcases. Overall historical contexts, but also interesting details, are conveyed in the form of text, film and animation on the latest digital media.

235 Media installed four projections, eight interactive touch monitors and nine additional showcase monitors. In addition, a media guide was created to complement the knowledge transfer.
